Where you can hear from EPIC this month
A busy month of appearances around the world this month provides opportunities for attendees at major industry conferences to hear EPIC’s views on a series of pressing issues connected to gambling-related harm.
May sees several members of our team traveling across North America and Europe to share their expertise and thought leadership with influential audiences, starting with a run of appearances in New York aimed at leaders from the sports and gambling industries.
First up is the SBC Player Protection Symposium in Manhattan on Tuesday May 7, an event that EPIC are supporting for a fourth consecutive year. Our director of safer gambling, Dan Spencer, and VP of partnerships, Teresa Fiore, will be joined by responsible/safer gambling specialists from some of the best known gambling brands from the US – BetMGM, DraftKings and FanDuel – to discuss the sustainability of SG or RG approaches.
The discussion crosses the Hudson for the following two days, with CEO Paul Buck and program facilitator Liz Thielen appearing at the Meadowlands Exposition Center, New Jersey, as part of this year’s SBC Summit North America. Buck will moderate a panel on Wednesday May 8 regarding the latest methods being adopted by the NCAA to minimize the risk of gambling-related harm among college athletes, while a day later, Thielen will be a panellist for a discussion in which she’ll present insight into problem gambling from an athlete’s perspective.
On the same day as Thielen’s appearance, Thursday May 9, we’ll be addressing representatives from some of the biggest global sporting institutions at the PAADS Athlete Development Summit, taking place at Major League Baseball’s New York headquarters. An extended session will see program facilitator Jordan Spencer share his lived experience story of a sporting integrity breach in elite sport, followed by Dr Meg Popovic (senior sports partnerships manager) and Michelle Evans (head of sports partnerships) outlining how sports organizations can prevent, prepare for, or react to similar situations within their own institutions.
Following that busy week, attentions will then turn to Europe, with events taking place over consecutive weeks in Malta. Director of business development Martin Bland is first to appear as part of the NEXT Summit in Valletta on Thursday May 16, where he’ll be addressing the topic of best practice for implementing responsible and safer Gambling messages in marketing campaigns, alongside other industry experts.
A week later, we’re back on the Mediterranean island for SBC CasinoBeats Summit at the InterContinental Malta, where you’ll be able to meet with our team on Wednesday May 22 and Thursday May 23 as they attend to network and discuss the latest in safer play initiatives for the casino industry.
There are even more opportunities to engage with EPIC in June too, with more details coming soon on how to engage with us our hear from our speakers at events like NACDA and NCAA Regional Rules in Las Vegas and the SBC Canadian Gaming Summit in Toronto.
