EPIC unveil The Gambling Harm Podcast
EPIC Risk Management are seeking to share their knowledge and experience of gambling-related harm to a wider audience via the launch of their brand new podcast: The Gambling Harm Podcast.
The company’s key figures and associates with personal lived experience of problem gambling have joined forces to record the first series of an informative and professional broadcast, produced by leading digital agency JMP UK.
Fusing human insight from lived experience and a glimpse into the impact that EPIC are making in their continued ambition of minimising gambling-related harm, the launch series went live with its debut episode on Tuesday 1st August, with a new episode set to be released every week throughout August to create a five-part series.
Hosted by experienced journalist Steve Cotton, every episode provides a deep dive into a relevant theme around measures for preventing gambling harm or the exploration of lived experience topics and how the guests have since been able to find recovery. This is intended to ensure that the podcast provides an outlet for those experiencing gambling harm to know that help can be found whatever the situation, and also highlight how vital lived experience is to EPIC’s mission to prevent harm from occurring and encourage others to use it as part of the education they provide to those in their care.
The episodes and guests in the initial run of The Gambling Harm Podcast will include:
• The Future of Gambling (Paul Buck and Dan Trolaro)
• Positive Changes (Dan Spencer and Dave Sproson)
• Casino Culture (Paul Findlay MBE)
• The Road to Recovery (Craig Cornforth and Andy Margett)
• The Impact on Loved Ones (Scott Davies and Alan Smart)
The podcast will be available in audio or video format across multiple mainstream platforms, namely:
• Spotify
• YouTube (video format)
Reflecting on completing recording of the first season of The Gambling Harm Podcast, host Steve Cotton is proud of the production that has been put together, admitting:
“Hosting the first series of The Gambling Harm Podcast for EPIC Risk Management has been an absolute pleasure.
“Every guest has really bought into the concept of the series, sharing their insight and personal experience with me and the audience.
“The guests’ honesty and expertise is what allowed us to produce a series of which we at JMP are incredibly proud. I am already looking forward to series two with genuine excitement.”
Adrian Ward, communications manager at EPIC, is equally looking forward to the release of the podcast and the impact it can potentially make, explaining:
“Our lived experience team have provided some moving and informative insight to several other excellent podcasts which touch upon the issue of gambling-related harm, so we’re delighted to be putting their skill for presenting to perfect effect via the release of our own podcast series.
“We’re in the privileged position of being able to produce a podcast that will appeal to a varied audience, combining the emotive nature of our team’s lived experience stories with the insight into how they’re now putting that to best effect to minimise the risk of harm for others.
“We look forward to hearing the reaction from those in related industries, anyone with lived experience or those who just tune in to listen to a different kind of podcast, and already have interesting plans on how to expand the range of contributors for future seasons.”
Trigger warning: Episode one contains suicide references which some listeners may find upsetting.
