About the board
EPIC’s Pro Sport Advisory Board (PSAB) is made up of international player protection and welfare experts from across the elite sporting landscape and gambling sector with the purpose of safeguarding the interests of professional sports stars, coaches, football staff and match officials from the risk of gambling related harm and integrity issues.
The main purpose of the Board is to use the respective member’s expertise across gambling, gaming, esports, integrity, athlete welfare and lived experience to guide EPIC’s wider strategic goals and objectives to minimise gambling harm in elite sport.
Since March 2025, the PSAB has been made up of two groups – the Pro Sport Advisory Board Foundation Group, which stems from the original membership of the board, focusing on global issues, and the Pro Sport Advisory Board North America, which has been formed to focus on the unique sports and wagering landscape of the US and Canada.

Gambling Harm Prevention in Sport Review
Following on from a 12-month period of investigation and discussion, the PSAB released their findings and recommendations in a White Paper at the Gambling Harm Prevention in Sport Summit at Wembley Stadium in February 2023.
White Paper Testimonial
“EPIC and Ms. Anca-Maria Gherghel have written and produced an extremely valuable and timely report focusing on gambling harm in sports and athletes. This issue is front of mind for anyone working with the gambling industry, mental health or sport organisations. It is an excellent summary of the literature combined with a clear and cogent presentation of the most critical issue related to gambling and sport. Most importantly, clear and concise recommendations are laid out as a roadmap that can and ought to be used to address this global and dynamic issue.”
Gambling Harm Prevention in Sport Summit
Over 100 executives and welfare professionals from across elite sport gathered for our first Gambling Harm Prevention in Sport Summit at Wembley Stadium.
Delivered in conjunction with UCFB’s Global Institute of Sport, the event was the launch pad to present the findings of the White Paper.
Summit Testimonials
“It has been fascinating. One of the powerful things is that personal testimony of lived experience, and you saw the faces of people around the room when Scott [Davies, former EFL footballer who experienced problem gambling] was talking.”
“It really made things come alive and you could understand that perspective. When you then go to socialise over drinks, people talk about it with enthusiasm, and they’re thinking ‘how in my world can I now go away and make a difference?’ and EPIC are right at the heart of that.”
“Talking with EPIC and understanding how their expertise and experience could come in and educate a whole generation of match officials is a really powerful thing for us to do.”
