Remembering the fallen this Remembrance Day
Today (November 11) we unite in remembering all those who have made the ultimate sacrifice and lost their lives while protecting their country, as we observe Remembrance Day.
Brave Service personnel have given their lives throughout the years so that we may continue to live in the best possible sense of peace and freedom. However, we especially remember all those who continue to lose their lives in the many armed conflicts that continue around the world today.
EPIC has been proud to offer new career paths for former serving members of the military, with three members of our current team having previously been members of the armed forces.
One of those, Danielle Smith – or Major Danielle Smith AGC (RMP), to provide her military title – is still a serving Reservist in Headquarters Northwest, alongside her role as the company’s director of operations.
EPIC Risk Management acknowledges and supports the Armed Forces Covenant. As part of this, our policies and culture at EPIC support Major Smith in undertaking her role by allowing her to undertake Reserve Service Days at Headquarters Northwest, supporting them in UK Resilience Operations such as fires in summer, flooding in winter and any other military aid to the civilian authorities that are required.
Now, 18 months into her new position with EPIC after leaving a 13 year career in the Army, she reflects on how EPIC has enabled a supported a smooth transition from full time military to civilian life, and is proud to be part of an organisation that proudly supports those who serve.
As part of her previous role, she has been part of many past Remembrance parades, and some of the pictures shown here depict her laying a wreath at RAF St Mawgan in 2019 in tribute to those we have lost.
Please remember all those who have lost their lives in the line of duty this Remembrance Day.
