Patrick Foster’s London Marathon Achievement
EPIC Risk Management sends our warmest congratulations to our Director of UK and Rest of the World Patrick Foster on completing Sunday’s London Marathon and in a time of just three hours twenty minutes!
Patrick took to the streets of London to raise money for The Mintridge Foundation, a registered charity dedicated to developing young people’s life skills through sport. So far, he has raised £3,076 for the Foundation, exceeding his initial target of £1,000 – an incredible achievement!
Former professional cricketer, insurance broker, and independent school teacher Patrick has lived experience of a pathological gambling addiction and its consequent devastating effects, but since finding recovery, he has turned to educating others through sharing his incredibly inspiring story with young people and their parents who may experience similar difficulties.
Patrick is a proud ambassador for The Mintridge Foundation and works with young people across the UK as a sporting role model.
EPIC caught up with Patrick to talk about his achievement:
“Eighteen months ago when we all faced lockdown, I decided that I would use what was going to be a very challenging time to try and get fit again and lose some much-needed weight. I started running and set myself various challenges, one of which was going to culminate in running an official marathon amongst others and try and raise money for charity.
“This was the culmination of that and was one of the best, most amazing and rewarding experiences of my life. It was a very special day and the feeling when I crossed the finishing line was worth the hours of hard work and training. I felt very emotional, exhausted but proud of what I had achieved.
“To raise money for the Mintridge Foundation, a charity that I am part of and is close to my heart meant everything and made it even more incredible. Well done to all those people who ran and completed the marathon.”
