Live webinar to focus on female problem gambling issues during Safer Gambling Week
One of the headline events in EPIC Global Solutions’ coverage for Safer Gambling Week (18-24 November) will be a live webinar looking into the often-taboo topic of how and why problem gambling issues among women often go under the radar, as part of a panel discussion on Thursday 21st November.
‘Female gamblers: the hidden side of problem gambling?’ will broadcast live from 12.45pm to 1.30pm GMT (1.45pm to 2.30pm CET) that afternoon, with EPIC consultant Megan Vanderson providing a lived experience insight into a predominantly-female panel, alongside representatives from two of our long-standing clients in the gambling industry; Sandra Naughton, Head of CPCC – UK Digital & Retail at Entain, and Taina Grech, Responsible Gambling Quality Assurance Manager at Kindred Group. EPIC’s senior consultant Craig Cornforth will moderate the discussion.

We’ll look into the prevalence rates of female problem gambling compared to the overall figure, why it remains taboo for so many women to talk about this experience, and how the nature of problem gambling among women differs or aligns to what we see among men.
Additionally, we’ll delve into how our lived experience-based safer gambling education and training is bringing the issue to light and preventing problems from occurring, how adding a female voice to training sessions is making the subject matter more real to SG teams working for gambling operators, and the importance of having female leaders in the safer gambling sphere.
The webinar is the first confirmed broadcast from EPIC during the UK and Europe’s Safer Gambling Week. With several insightful video features and articles set to follow, we’ll be looking at the concept of safer gambling through a human lens throughout the week of heightened attention aimed at generating wider understanding of the potentially-destructive side-effects of problem gambling that afflict a proportion of all gamblers.
The awareness week is celebrated across Europe, with the European Gaming and Betting Association promoting it under the banner of European Safer Gambling Week, while the Betting and Gaming Council coordinates Safer Gambling Week within the UK on behalf of the licensed gambling industry.
