EPIC Risk Management launch Harmful Gambling Terminology and Online Account Management Tools survey
EPIC Risk Management has launched a Harmful Gambling Terminology and Online Account Management Tools online survey. The survey will ask people affected by gambling-related harm, and those who provide professional support to those in recovery, for their views on the terminology they prefer and what (if any) types of online account management tools they believe may be helpful to reduce harmful gambling behaviours.
The aims of this survey is to help inform and develop EPIC’s industry-leading projects in gambling harm prevention.
EPIC Risk Management’s Head of Safer Gambling, Dan Spencer: “EPIC Risk Management will be carrying out some important research work into the preferred language used around the subject of gambling-related harm. In our work, we see so many different variations when talking about the people harmed by gambling, the process of preventing the harm or even the act of harmful gambling itself. By conducting this research amongst recovering communities, affected others and professionals in the field, we hope to inform our work further to align terms used across the industry, prevention services and treatment.”
EPIC Risk Management is passionate about making sure fewer people’s lives are damaged by the negative effects of gambling. As part of the prevention, early intervention and awareness-raising work EPIC undertakes a deeper understanding of that language is important.
