Summit postponed to avoid rail strikes

In light of the nationwide train strikes on Wednesday 5th October being confirmed yesterday, EPIC Risk Management and UCFB’s Global Institute of Sport have taken the tough decision to postpone the Gambling Harm Prevention in Sport Summit.

With a large proportion of the guests and speakers originally planning on using the rail network to travel considerable distances to attend, the two parties have taken the earliest possible decision to re-arrange for a new date when it will be significantly more convenient for both domestic and international participants to undertake their journeys.

With that in mind, the organisers have identified a number of preferred dates in early 2023 to re-arrange the summit and hope to confirm the new arrangements as soon as possible, following the relevant discussions with all the key stakeholders in the event.

As soon as the new details are confirmed, both parties will re-issue new invitations to guests that had previously been invited for this invite-only event, in order to disseminate the ever-pertinent issue of gambling harm prevention in elite sports and esports.

Any invited guests who have queries relating to the topic of gambling-related harm in sport and esports that they would like to pose to either EPIC or GIS in lieu of the opportunity that they were anticipating in a fortnight’s time are urged to reach out to the party that extended the invitation, and both will be keen to help wherever possible.

Both EPIC and GIS would like to extend their thanks to a considerable guest list that had confirmed their interest in this important event, and likewise for their patience and understanding while both institutions seek to find the most convenient alternative for all parties.
