EPIC Risk Management say it’s ‘time to talk’
At EPIC we try to go a long way to enhance and improve communication. The more conversations we have, the better life is for everyone. Talking about mental health isn’t aways easy, but a conversation has the power to change lives. We’ve all taken different journeys where life events shape and affect our mental health and that has aided our approach as a people focussed business.
Time to Talk Day is the nation’s biggest mental health conversation. Happening every year, with today marking its ninth annual day. It’s a day for friends, communities, and workplaces to come together to talk, listen and change lives.
The concept is delivered by run by Mind and Rethink Mental Illness with this year’s theme being ‘make space in your day for a conversation about mental health.’
It’s a challenge but we want everyone to feel comfortable talking about mental health – whenever they like. Talking about mental health can help reduce stigma, create a supportive community where we can talk openly about mental health and feel empowered to seek help when we need it.
It’s why opening up the conversation about mental health problems is so important – by talking about it we can support ourselves and others.
We pride ourselves on excellent communication with our events and wellbeing manager Pippa Robson encouraging all EPIC staff to take a few minutes out of their day to spark a conversation off in the office or pick up the phone to a colleague that staff may not have heard from for a little while, as she explains:
“It’s a reminder to use your time to reach out to someone you’ve not had chance to connect with lately and check in. You never know what people are going through and a quick 30-minute conversation while you make a brew could make someone’s day and get them back on their feet!”
