Sharing our experience for National Recovery Month
September’s National Recovery Month aims to increase awareness, challenge stigma, and celebrate the success of those in recovery from all addictive behaviours – something that shines through in the personal stories of many of our team.
At EPIC, awareness and education are key to our ongoing mission to take the problem out of gambling, and to save lives.
Many of our staff have their own lived experience of problem gambling and gambling harm, which plays an essential role in understanding how to prevent such harm from occurring in future.
Throughout September, a series of videos will run across our social media platforms, in order to hear first-hand from those who have taken the road to recovery, sharing insight into what sparked their first steps away from gambling harm, who helped them along the way, and what helps them to remain ‘in recovery’ now.
Available immediately with similarly uplifting messages, ‘The Gambling Harm Podcast’ is a great resource for inspiring and courageous tales of recovery, providing proof that recovery is possible.
The podcast is available across all leading platforms, namely:
Five episodes are currently live, with each investigating a different theme around the topic of gambling harm, with input from every contributor around how they found (or continue to maintain) a sense of recovery.
If you are currently affected by any form of gambling-related harm – either directly or through someone close to you – please visit our Support page for details of organisations that can help you to find the best possible assistance and chance of recovery.
